About this course
Physical intervention skills are sometimes required for the safe and legal management of physically challenging behaviour. This Physical Intervention training will prepare you to safely and humanely react to crisis situations where restrictive physical intervention is the last resort to prevent serious harm.
At the end of this restrictive physical intervention training course, learners will be able to identify challenging behaviour and know when to intervene, know physical intervention techniques, know the risks involved in physical intervention, know the causes and diffusion of anger and aggression, learn unacceptable practice and learn how physical intervention is used with people with dementia.

On completion of this course learners should know and understand the following:

When to intervene: Identifying challenging behaviour and knowing when to intervene and use physical intervention.

Techniques: Learn Physical intervention techniques used in the health and social care sector, including breaking away and holding.

Risks involved: Learn and understand the risks involved in using physical intervention in a professional setting.

The Assault Cycle: Learn and understand the stages, origin and pattern of the assault cycle.

Laws and legislation: Learn the laws and legislations that cover the use of physical intervention in a professional setting.
