About this course
Careskills Academy’s First Aid at Work course is ideal for individuals working in higher-risk environments such as building sites, warehouses and factories, or workplaces with over 50 employees. Participants will develop the skills and confidence needed to manage various first aid situations that may commonly occur in the workplace, potentially saving lives. The curriculum covers injury treatement, basic life support (CPR), HSE regulations and a wide variety of first aid techniques in the workplace.
Upon completion, learners will receive a First Aid at Work certificate, valid for 3 years, and will be qualified to serve as a first aider in the workplace.

Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course learners should know and understand the following:

Regulations: Understand The Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981 alongside relevant first aid legislation.

Examination of a casualty: Learn and understand how to examine a casualty and the further actions/determine the appropriate treatments.

Treatment: Manage and treat unconsciousness, shock, bleeding, fractures, burns and scalds.

Managing incidents: Respond effectively to heart attacks, eye injuries and common illnesses.

Basic life support – CPR: Gain practical cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and basic life support (BLS) skills.

First aid kits and dressings: Understand what should be inside of a first aid kit and how to use it in an emergency.

Reporting: Learn the importance of accurate record-keeping and reporting injuries in the workplace.
