About this course

This prevent radicalisation training course is designed to build your understanding of extremism, radicalisation and the Prevent Duty, and to clarify your responsibilities as a health or social care worker. It provides essential prevent awareness training aligned with current Prevent Duty guidance and the wider UK counter terrorism strategy.

The course begins by exploring the meaning of the Prevent Duty and the terminology associated with it. You’ll learn key concepts such as terrorism, extremism and radicalisation, while gaining a clear overview of the Prevent Strategy and how it applies to those working in health and social care. This is a core foundation for anyone completing prevent extremism online training.

Module two examines the different ways individuals may become vulnerable to radicalisation, including factors such as social isolation, bereavement, personal crisis, or exposure to extremist influences. You will also learn how people can be drawn into radicalisation and extremism, and how to identify early warning signs such as withdrawal, changes in behaviour, or disengagement from friends, family or usual activities.

The final stage of the course focuses on how to respond to concerns appropriately. You will learn how to record and report potential risks in line with safeguarding procedures, and how the multi-agency Channel programme supports vulnerable individuals who are at risk of being drawn into terrorism. This is a key aspect of effective prevent duty training, making sure that you feel confident in applying the correct processes.

This preventing radicalisation training is ideal for anyone working in health and social care, education, voluntary services or community support roles. It is particularly useful for staff who have safeguarding responsibilities or may work with individuals who could be vulnerable to extremist influences.

Guided Learning Hours: up to 45 minutes, dependent on learner’s skills and abilities.
